Jupiterdao voting: Compare JUP Voting Power
Updated ·
Jupiter DAO assigned governance weight to staked JUP. Its documented 2024-2025 voting model distinguished partial unstaking from full unstaking. Partial unstaking immediately removed the selected amount's available voting weight; full unstaking reduced weight over time.
- Baseline Voting Weight
- The November 8, 2024 Jupiter DAO FAQ assigned one vote per staked JUP.
- Partial Unstaking
- The April 26, 2025 explanation described a 30-day withdrawal countdown. The selected tokens lost their voting power immediately, while the remaining stake retained its weight.
- Full Unstaking
- The November 2024 model used a 30-day countdown with linearly decreasing voting power. A vote used the power that would remain when its proposal ended.
- Voting Pause
- The June 25, 2025 FAQ announced a pause until 2026 for governance restructuring. That announcement did not establish a subsequent proposal schedule.
Proposal Closing Time
A full-unstaking position could still participate in a live proposal under the November 2024 rules. Its usable weight depended on the voting power remaining when that proposal closed. An earlier voting-power reading could therefore exceed the weight available for that proposal.
A position whose unstaking countdown finished by the proposal deadline had zero projected voting weight. Casting a vote earlier did not preserve its earlier, higher weight.
Adding JUP During an Unstaking Countdown
ArjayRay's April 26, 2025 discussion, Full Unstaking and Partial Unstaking Questions, distinguished how additional JUP affected each state. During full unstaking, newly staked JUP joined the existing unstaking phase. During partial unstaking, additional JUP increased the active stake without joining the partial withdrawal.
Hypothetical Comparison at Proposal Close
Partial unstaking leaves 550 units of voting power in this hypothetical comparison; full unstaking contributes 367 at proposal close. All position amounts and proposal timing here are hypothetical, using the historical 30-day model.
Initial stake in each position: 734 JUP. Partial unstake before voting: 184 JUP. Full unstaking time remaining at proposal close: 15 days.
-
Partial unstaking:
734 - 184 = 550units of voting power from the JUP remaining staked. -
Full unstaking:
734 * 15 / 30 = 367units of voting power at the proposal deadline.
The partial position has 184 JUP entering withdrawal, while the full position has all 734 JUP unstaking. A later proposal deadline would reduce the full position's projected weight further, reaching zero when its countdown ends.
Voting Choice and Reward Eligibility
The November 2024 FAQ tied quarterly Active Staking Rewards (ASR) to voting participation. Choosing one proposal option over another did not change eligibility. ArjayRay's April 26, 2025 explanation said a partial unstake after voting left that proposal's ASR based on the vote's original weight. The same explanation said completing a full unstake did not remove ASR eligibility from prior voting.
The June 25, 2025 FAQ described a different basis during the voting pause: time-weighted staking through the end of 2025. Longer staking within a quarter increased ASR under that arrangement. Those historical terms do not establish reward rules for later periods.

How Did Changing a Vote Work Under the November 2024 Rules?
A voter could reopen the active proposal, select a different option, and cast an updated vote. The proposal had to remain open for voting.
